Chapter 24 - Spirituality—A Journey The true strength of humanity lies in unity. As is the thought, so is the action. As is the action, so is the result… Spirituality is meant to explain the principle of Divinity and the inner meaning of the names attributed to that Divinity. It refers to the state beyond all attachment and hatred and makes you understand the unity and oneness of all mankind… Spirituality is the spirit of oneness. It is the spirit of oneness that constitutes the real spiritual endeavor, the right devotion and the correct wisdom. —SSSB
Over the years I have been confronted with questions similar to this: “Oliver, I have a great desire to find my spirituality. How do I start on my spiritual journey?” My answer has always been the same: You must commence with having a strong desire to find the truth and essence of your being. The important word is desire. Having a strong desire causes a strong beam of light, energy, to be transmitted from you, expanding beyond the gross body and earth, penetrating the subtle atmosphere and then fusing with the illumined causal heaven, that dimension of consciousness that is the first cause in the advent of being we call the divine. When this happens a direct link is created with our source, very similar to inserting the cord of your blender or
shaver into the electrical socket and flicking the switch to energize the appliance. The voltage, force or light of energy that flows from this source is directly dependent on the intensity of your desire, depth of your sincerity and receptivity of your mind to receive clarity. This force of energy is light in action. Light is the storehouse of all energy. Light is the medium through which all intelligence, wisdom and power emanates. In light is embedded all the codes of knowledge, understanding, wisdom, unity and one-ness, the microcosm and macrocosm, the past-present-future, the finite and infinite, the alpha and the omega. Light is the cohesive medium of love. In all holy books—the familiar ones being the Torah, Bible, Koran and the Bhagavad-Gita Gita—God is always depicted as light.
The causal heaven manifests as light and is a state of consciousness. Consciousness, on the other hand, originates from awareness—the eternal divine source of pure being we term God. This state of pure being is isotropic and, therefore, resides everywhere at once, in all dimensions, in all states of consciousness. This is so because all states beyond itself is, in fact, an extension of itself and, therefore, itself. Thereby, making every thing One. Pure being, awareness, is the life force, light, cosmic energy or power that gives existence, intelligence, mass and order to the entire cosmos. “This energy that is all energy, is omnipresent and is dormant, latent or patent, but is everywhere at all times… It exist in a piece of cloth or in a sheet of paper. It is the truth of all that is,” says Sai Baba. I have found that the easiest way to understand the depth of this reality is to recognize that the entire creation, which is constantly in the process of creating, is made up of...
